SEPARATION and DIVORCE

If you are a parent who has made the difficult decision to separate, you are facing challenging questions. While litigation can often serve to heighten tensions, mediation serves to help you and your partner develop a cooperative plan for moving forward.

Our mediators can:

  • create a calm, confidential process for working things out
  • inform your spouse about the advantages of mediation
  • help you create a co-parenting plan that works for your family
  • refer you to lawyers who are committed to mediation and staying out of court

You control the cost.

We believe that your money should stay within your family. We offer:

  • a free 15-minute telephone consult
  • a sliding scale for hourly fees (call 416.536.1164 for details)
  • an estimate after the first joint meeting
  • ways to work on-line
  • you initiate fees by emailing, calling, or scheduling a meeting
  • you pay at the end of each appointment
  • if you are eligible for legal aid, we help you find it

MEDIATION WORKS

There is always sadness and anger in separation and divorce. Our mediators will work with each of you to find out what you want, what you need, and why that's important to you. Once you both put that on the table, we can start to create options for meeting both sets of needs. There is always more than one way to meet your goals. Our mediators will help you navigate the intense emotions around separation and steer towards choices that meet your children's needs and yours.

Mediation preserves the respect, dignity and privacy of the family. Our mediators will help you to have a respectful and honest conversation abour your issues, begin to understand each other, and cooperatively chart the way forward.
